Making a Feature out of a Structural Flitch Beam

My customers Russell and Amanda wanted to create more space to their main bedroom, on taking down the existing wall which was the original gable end of the barn, I constructed a new stud wall creating a lovely space but due to the original structure, a new flitch beam had to be installed and this was then cladded in an american white oak with an oiled finish, this gave a lovely additional feature to the room. ...continue reading
